Dec. 8: Hike, Knit, and Bake Holiday Cookies

Cold winter days don't mean you have to stay inside, get out there and do something different.

On Wednesday, you can hike, knit, learn how to bake splendid holiday cookies, or attend a meeting on education. Is that enough to keep you busy on a cold winter days?

1. Ed Proco of the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will lead a hike around  at 10 a.m. The 3 to 4 mile trail has scenic water views. The group will meet at the parking area located off of East Lake Drive about 2 miles north of the intersection of Montauk Highway.

2 . Let's face it, most knitting and crocheting groups take place during the day because seniors tend to do it more than teens. But, the has a that meets on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. It's open to anyone older than 14. Are you one of the teens who knits? Let us know.

3. East Hampton Point Restaurant is hosting a  for those who want to master the art of holiday cookies. Pre-registration is required, but the class starts at 6 p.m., so there is plenty of time to still sign-up.

4. After more than two and a half years, the Teachers Association of Sag Harbor and the Sag Harbor School District have come to an agreement over the union's contract. Both sides made concessions and all seemed relieved that it's officially a chapter closed. Read more in an article that will post today.

5. Speaking of the Sag Harbor School District, an  will be held at  at 7:30 p.m. Walter Wilcoxen, who is also the board president, will lead a discussion that he hopes will determine a vision for the school district.
