Are You Bonac Enough? These Year-Rounders Are
East Hampton native Tara Israel has published a photo blog of individuals who she believes are true 'Bonackers'.
Deep in the heart of East Hampton there's a thriving community of true blue locals who've been around long before the influx of summer tourists and headline-making crowds. They are a loyal breed who are deeply ingrained traditions and small-town ways of life. They are the foundation of which the community was born and still thrives.
Recently, these individuals were featured on Narrativly.com in a photo blog published by Tara Israel, an East Hampton native, who graduated the Ross School in 2001.
The photo blog features everyday people, like Sidney, who worked as a maintenance mechanic at East Hampton Bowl; Zach, a commercial fisherman; Billy, who works at BookHampton; and Morgan, who just returned from active duty.
Israel, who plans to publish a gallery of East Hampton fisherman later this year, writes that "to be a 'Bonacker,' a true local, is defined differently by everyone."
