April 4: Monday Brings Rain Storms, Vegan Potluck, and a History Lesson

Everything you need to know on the first Monday in April.

It was a beautiful weekend, but the new week is going to start off with a blast of rain. Monday brings more than a 70 percent chance of rain in East Hampton, including isolated thunderstorms in the evening.

1. Looking for some good reading on a rainy day? The meets at the at 1:30 p.m. They are always looking for new book lovers to join.

2. Mary Cummings' East Hampton history column called Dispatches from the Archives will run on Monday. It's a timely piece about gardening in the early 20th Century.

3. The will host a vegan potluck dinner in the cafeteria on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. Those bringing dishes should RSVP ahead of time.

4. The will meet on Monday night. Larry Penny, the director of the town's department will speak about the health of Lake Montauk, the dredging of the inlet, the Coastal Gas Station, and other wetland issues. The meeting takes place at the Montauk School at 7 p.m.

5. Spring is in the air -- finally. Now would be the perfect time to join the . The organization has its monthly meeting on Monday night at , starting at 7:30 p.m.
