#85 -- Catch the Annual Santa Parade

Parade ushers in the Christmas spirit.

You won't find Scrooge here -- the in East Hampton Village is only for those who want holiday cheer.

Set for Saturday at 10 a.m., the parade is always a favorite, drawing hundreds to Main Street and Newtown Lane to get a glimpse of St. Nick and everything else Christmas. 

Sponsored by the , dozens of local businesses and organizations participate -- some on extravagant floats, others on foot, and some others in classic cars or even on tractors.

Past participants include the school choirs and bands, , the local fire departments, the , and children's dance groups. Frosty the Snowman and 12 reindeer pulling Mr. and Mrs. Claus are likely to be back again this year to find out if you've been naughty or nice in 2011.

This year, the Lions Club of East Hampton is using the parade for the . The group will hand out candy canes with notes attached asking for donations this holiday season. After the parade, members will set up in front of the from 11 a.m. to noon, to hand out any left over candy canes and accept donations for the pantry, both in canned good or monetary form.

The Huntting Inn is hosting Santa Claus after the parade. He'll be available for a photo op and will happily listen to this year's Christmas wishes.
