5 Top Blogs of the Year

Ty Wenzel discussed Douche Spotter, and T.J. Clemente wrote about the change in Montauk.

News isn't all you'll find on East Hampton Patch. Community members are invited to start their own blogs to off their thoughts on what's going on around town. Here are just five of the memorable ones from 2013.

Why is Montauk Out of Control?

T.J. Clemente asked this question back in August and it elicited plenty of response. "The alarm seems to be centered around the behavior of the new generation of young who seem to have even less respect for the hamlet, inhabitants, its traditions and its laws," Clemente wrote.

Douchebag Revolution

When Douche Spotter went viral, so did Ty Wenzel's blog about what she called the "Douchebag Revolution." She wrote, "It seems that locals have had enough and we are not going to take it anymore. The internet is the perfect venue to spew everything from our head-scratching WTFs to our road-rage moments that could so easily go wrong. So venting is good."

Justice, Hopefully

After Edward Orr was arrested in February for leaving the scene of the October 2012 accident that killed a pedestrian, Sofia M. Stipanov took to East Hampton Patch to talk about justice. Her husband's family was very close to the victim, John Judge. "So today let's all have a moment of silence that justice is fair and hearts can begin to heal," she wrote.

A Chemical Cocktail Made by Long Islanders for Long Islanders

Long Island was one of the first places where pesticide related compounds were found in drinking water, and according to the LIPUMP, more than half of private and non-community drinking water on LI tested positive for pesticides. Deborah Klughers has a wealth of information on the topic. Just check out her blog from March.

Oooh Baby Baby! What's new in Montauk?

Back in May, Lynn Blumenfeld took a look at the new stores opening up for the season in Montauk.
