5 Things To Know About This Week

From commissioner elections to a holiday party that breaks political barriers, here's what you should about the week ahead.

We know the holidays are making your lives extra busy, so here's five things you ought to know about the week ahead.

1. Fire commissioner elections will be held on Tuesday. There's only one race some voters in the Town of East Hampton can help decide -- in the Bridgehampton Fire District, and are on the ballot for one seat. In Springs, looks to join the board, but he running unopposed. In Amagansett, wants to keep his seat and in Montauk, is also seeking re-election. Check the calendar for voting times.

2. The will meet on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for its monthly work session in Montauk. It's the first meeting since the board voted to suspend for 30 days without pay. The board on Thursday evening.

3. Since it's the season of giving, why not donate some blood? There are two blood drives scheduled nearby this week. The first is at the on Tuesday and the other is at the on Wednesday. Both will be held from 2 to 8 p.m.

4. Tickets adding up on your license? This week, there are two opportunities to take a defensive driving workshop. One starts at the on Tuesday. It's $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-member. If you need one at night, the is offering one that starts Wednesday at East Hampton High School. That's $55. Both require advanced registration and take place over two day.

5. Now for some holiday cheer -- an "" is set for Friday evening at restaurant. "Come all ye Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Independence, Working Families, Teas and Undecideds," the invitation reads.  Complimentary wine, beer, sodas and hors d'oeuvres will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a suggested contribution of $20 that will be donated entirely to The East Hampton Food Pantry. Donations of food also welcome.
