5 Things To Do Around East Hampton This Weekend

The Box Art Auction to benefit the East End Hospice, among other community events, happens Saturday.

Summer may be over, but the activities on the East End are just heating up.

We know the community is going to come together in a big way for Doris Quigley, the injured East Hampton lifeguard, at a benefit in her honor at East Hampton High School on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. We just wanted to tell you about a few other events happening this weekend, including the season opener of the men's rugby league and the annual party of the Accabonac Protection Committee. 

1.  in a game against the Rockaway Rugby Club in . The team was undefeated in league play last season, so the guys have something to prove this year. The match starts at 1 p.m.

2. On Saturday, INstore will host their very of unusual and exotic items at in East Hampton. The show will feature three textile and fashion designer; Jorie Johnson, with fantastic felt and silk creations, Alfred Stadler, with hand-tooled fine leather bags and accessories, and Mary Jaeger, with ancient Eastern/contemporary Western one-of-a-kind wardrobe pieces. A preview will be held from noon until 2 p.m., and the trunk show continues onto 5.

3. The at the will be held on Saturday, starting at 4 p.m. Chicken, corn potato salad, tomato basil salad, a beverage and dessert — all for $20. Dine-in or take-out. You will be sure not to leave hungry. Just get there before 7 p.m.

4. Find unique art for a great cause at the , to benefit the East End Hospice, will be held at the on Saturday. About 100 East End artists have created art boxes. They include Connie Fox, April Gornik, William King, Daniel Pollera, Gabriele Raacke and Hans van de Bovenkamp.  A silent auction begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by a live auction at 6 p.m. Bonnie Grice of WPPB will serve as the live auction auctioneer.

5. The is holding its annual party at the home of Cile Downs on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is free for all and allows for an opportunity to meet East Hampton Natural Resources Director Kim Shaw. The Friend of the Creek award will be given posthumously to Nancy Kane. Refreshments will be served. The address for the party is in the event listing .
