5 Things Happening Around East Hampton This Weekend

It's all about Sag Harbor this weekend, unless you are a runner, then you'll want to head to Springs.

Let's get the weekend started early, as there are two big events kicking off in Sag Harbor on Friday night. And, hope for good weather — a lot of the events are counting on it. 

1. It's Homecoming in Sag Harbor. It begins with a Bonfire and Pep Rally at Long Beach on Friday between 6 and 9 p.m. Food trucks will offer a variety of food, ice cream and hot chocolate. The classes perform their chants and the Homecoming Court is announced. On Saturday, the Pierson Homecoming Parade and Skits on Main Street at 9 a.m. The Sag Harbor Booster Foundation will give a free youth soccer and field hockey clinics at Mashimuet Park, starting at 12:30 p.m. The 1st Annual "Night of Lights" will see the Varsity Field Hockey team take on Port Jefferson at 7 p.m. (JV plays at 5:30 p.m.) 

2. The American Music Festival kicks-off Friday night at the Old Whalers Church at 8. A full day of music follows on Saturday at various businesses throughout Sag Harbor.

3. The Hamptons Marathon, also with half-marathon and 5K distances, is back for a sixth year in Springs on Saturday. The races begin at 8 and 8:3 a.m. It's all to benefit Project MOST, East Hampton Day Care Learning Center and Southampon Hospital. While registration is closed, runners could always use some support along the way! For information about where to cheer them on and road-closures, click here.

4. A  will help benefit the Sag Harbor Community Food Pantry and the Community House at Old Whalers. A  benefit lottery ticket is $50. The cocktail party and drawing will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

5. If a little art is what you are looking for, how about a day at the museum? Guild Hall in East Hampton Village will open its doors free of charge on Saturday along with over 1,400 other participating venues for the eighth annual Museum Day Live! Guild Hall will emulate the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C. Just download a Museum Day Live! ticket at Smithsonian.com/museumday. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
