Terrible accidents, one amazing miracle out on the water, and a Facebook page that went viral were among the biggest headlines.

Labor Day has arrived, and with another summer down, let's take a look back at the five most read stories on East Hampton Patch this summer season.

1. 14-year-old Bicyclist Dies After Car Crash in East Hampton Village

Anna Lytton was struck while riding her bicycle in East Hampton Village, dying at the hospital on June 15, just a week before her eighth grade graduation. The girl was pinned under a Ford Explorer in the middle of Pantigo Road, which is part of Montauk Highway, at the intersection of Gay Lane, at about 1:25 p.m. Six to eight "Good Samaritans" helped to free her, and she was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. No criminal charges were filed against the driver, a 73-year-old East Hampton woman, though she was ticketed for

2. Missing Fisherman Found Alive After Floating for 12 Hours

It was truly a miracle — John Aldridge, the fisherman who went missing from his lobster boat five miles off of Montauk Point on July 24, was found alive, hanging onto his boots and a buoy, floating in the water 43 miles south of Montauk Point 12 hours later. A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod lifted him out of the water, and he made a full recovery.

4. Sag Harbor Man Charged with DWI in Route 114 Crash

Police said a drunken driver crashed his pickup truck into a BMW on Route 114 in East Hampton on July 6, seriously injuring a mother and her 6-year-old son. William Hurley, 60, of Sag Harbor, allegedly swerved over the double yellow line near Deer Haven Court hitting the BMW, East Hampton Town police said.

5. Locals Take Frustrations to Facebook for a Laugh

We've all been there — That wildly frustrating moment on line next to an impatient customer. That encounter over a parking space that leaves you shaking your head, wondering, "How many more days until Labor Day?" The all-too-familiar feelings were what Springs native James Cuomo tapped into when he created a Facebook group aptly called: D--che Spotter.
