19-Year-Old Arrested in Springs Liquor Store Robbery

Less than 48 hours after a man made off with cash from a robbery at the Springs Wines & Liquors on Nov. 9, East Hampton Town police made an arrest. East Hampton Town police said John X. Tracy III, 19, who lives on Kings Point Road in Springs, was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, on Nov. 11 

2. Alec Baldwin Gives $1 Million To East Hampton Library

Just months after becoming a father for the second time, actor Alec Baldwin has donated $1 million on behalf of his family to the East Hampton Library for its new children's addition, currently under construction and scheduled for completion in spring 2014.

3. Armed Robbery Reported in Sag Harbor Village

Police are searching the area for two people who robbed a store in Sag Harbor Village at gunpoint on the evening of Nov. 19. Police had pulled over a vehicle on the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton soon after the robbery was reported at the Corner Closet. Two people were reportedly taken into custody, but they were not believed to responsible for the robbery. The robbers were said to have made off with items from the designer consignment shop at 108 Main Street. 

4. Fire Erupts in Montauk Shores Condos Wednesday Morning

A fire that broke out in the Montauk Shores Condominiums destroyed two small houses on Nov. 13, but firefighters were able to save several mobile homes from catching fire. 

Montauk Fire Department Chief Richard Schoen said the two unoccupied houses were completely engulfed in flames when the fire department was called to the oceanfront mobile home park off Deforest Road just before 6 a.m. "I live on the west end of Montauk and when I came over the crest by Surfside there was visible light on the horizon and it wasn't the sun," he said.

5. Teen Charged with Sexual Assault at Wainscott Rehab Facility

A 16-year-old from Rockville Centre sexually assaulted another teen at Phoenix House Academy in Wainscott, East Hampton Town police said on Nov. 18.

Police responded to the drug rehabilitation and treatment center for adolescent males on Industrial Road — not far from police headquarters — after a report of a victim of violence on Nov. 17 at about 5:10 p.m. They found an 18-year-old male victim had been assaulted. East Hampton Village Ambulance Association transported him to Southampton Hospital, where he underwent surgery and has been admitted.
