10 Top Celebrity Moments in East Hampton

From the Polar Bear Plunge to fundraisers, there was no shortage of celebrity sightings this year.

We all know East Hampton is a playground for the rich and famous. So, here's a look back at some of the book signings, talks, fundraisers and parties East Hampton Patch spotted them out in 2011.

: As Hurricane Irene sped towards the Hamptons on Aug. 26, Gwyneth Paltrow, who has recently been credited with helping save a life on 9/11, signed copies of her cookbook and answered questions at 's East Hampton location.

: Amongst the 175 authors at the August event were "All My Children" soap opera star Susan Lucci, thriller novelist Nelson DeMille, political biographer Robert A. Caro, talk show host Dick Cavett, cookbook author Katie Lee Joel, and surprise guest Sen. Charles Schumer. Afterwards, authors attended dinners in the fundraiser for the East Hampton Library. Our intern got to have dinner with former baseball star at local disc jockey Bonnie Grice's home.

: The Writers trounced the Artists 17-12 at the 63rd Annual Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game in in East Hampton on Aug. 20. The Artists team included 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin, Real Housewives of New York City's Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, actor Greg Bello and artist Eric Ernst. On the Writers side were Roger Rosenblatt, and Daily News sports columnist Mike Lupica.

: Food Network star chef Bobby Flay sat across from Florence Fabricant, a nationally renowned food writer and contributor for The New York Times, at as she grilled him with questions about his culinary career before an audience on July 31.

: Author James Frey answered audience questions ranging from his literary process and professional motivations to his tattoos and childhood heros during a book discussion at the on July 16.

: Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons joined his brothers the artist Danny Simmons and the hip-hop artist Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons for the fundraiser on July 30. The star-studded soiree honored stars singer Mary J. Blige and the actor Edward Norton, and featured a special performance by Jennifer Hudson. CNN correspondent hosted the fundraiser for Simmons' foundation. The guest list included Star Jones, Gayle King, Kimora Lee Simmons and her boyfriend, the actor, Djimon Hounsou and Dr. Oz, among other celebs and Hamptons socialites.

: The gala on Aug. 6 welcomed some notable names, like the actor Richard Kind, who hosted the event, actress Aida Turturro, and Charlie and Jerry O'Connell.

: During his sold-out bluegrass concert at on July 2, actor Steve Martin brought Alec Baldwin onto the stage, according to The New York Daily News.

: The Nanny hosted a family friendly fundraiser for her charity the on Father's Day at the . Real Housewives of New York City stars Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Alex McCord and Simon van Kampen turned out to support Drescher, along with with film star Chazz Palminteri, all in the name of fighting and preventing cancer.

: Patrons of turned out for its annual summer gala on Aug. 12 to honor East Hampton homeowner Martha Stewart and preview Richard Prince's new exhibition.
