10 Shelter Pets

These past "Pets of the Week" were at the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons.

Each week Patch presents a cat or dog from the in need of a forever home.

Sometimes the Pet of the Week is adopted almost immediately. But other featured pets are still at the shelter months later.  Here are 10 past "Pets of the Week" from 2011 -- Lois and Lillian are still available for adoption.

is a striking Coonhound mix that has been at ARF since Oct. 2009. At about 2 years old, she is full of energy, despite a handicap of three legs.

arrived a nursing mother of a litter of kittens in April. A calico Domestic Shorthair cat, the shelter staff thinks she's about 1 year and 8 months old. She is now spayed.

, a three year old calico domestic shorthair, was abandoned in July. She's about 3 years old and was found in the driveway at ARF one summer morning.

is a calico Turkish Angora, one of the most ancient breeds hailing from the Angora region of central Turkey. She is about two years old.

, a tan Pekingese, was a male breeding dog from a puppy mill and was along with 30 others in October.

, a pug and beagle mix called a "puggle," was also rescued in October. He is about 3 years old.

, an interesting mix of a Boxer and Beagle, came to ARF via a kill shelter in South Carolina in July.

, a brown tabby and black domestic shorthair, came in a stray in 2009 and longs to be a house cat.

is a tan American Dingo female teenager with the heart of a puppy. At 5 1/2 years old, she is a 45 pound energetic dog. Her prior owner could no longer care for her and surrendered her.

is a 3 year old neutered male, gray Whippet mix who was given up by his tearful owner due to lack of time to care for him after they moved to the South Fork from California in search of employment.
