Pyrrhus Concer (1814-1897), a celebrated African American whaler will be the subject of a lecture by Sally Spanburgh, a Southampton Village historic preservation advocate, at the Rogers Mansion on Saturday, March 22 beginning at 2:00 PM. A panel discussion begins at 3:00 PM followed by a birthday party with poetry, music and an exhibition opening for “Pyrrhus Concer: Born a Slave, Died a Philanthropist.”
