In 1992, Billy Joel and East Hampton Town Supervisor, Tony Bullock joined local fishermen in PROTEST over the ban on hauling a seine to catch Striped Bass that had gone into effect 7 years earlier........but the Ban remains.

Former President of the E. H. Town Baymen’s Association and Town Trustee, Captain Dan King and his wife, Marsha have documented the story in a new book,

“A Fine Day for Fishing” The death of a centuries-old way of life
played out on a fine sandy beach.
With over 20 illustrations by local artist, Cynthia Loewen (wife of current EH Town Baymen’s President) the book
documents and helps preserve the maritime history of
the centuries-old fishing community now called
"The Hamptons". It’s a cautionary tale of loss, in an easy-
to-read style for all ages.
For those who missed the Premiere of the Book last November, Captain Dan and Marsha, along with local Baymen, will welcome guests on:
Saturday, June 21st from 10am–6pm
at the EH Town Marine Museum on Bluff Road in Amagansett
Signed copies of A Fine Day for Fishing and Limited Edition Archival Prints of several of the illustrations will be available for purchase.
