Charlotte Schorr, the original librarian at the , died on Wednesday night.
Schorr and her husband Robert were originally from Hempstead, but moved to Montauk after Robert retired from the Suffolk County Police Department in the 1970s.
She was a much loved member of the Montauk community from her years behind the desk at the library.
Until this past August when her sight was failing due to lymphoma, Charlotte worked at the library. She was an original member of The Friends of the Montauk Library and finished her tenure as treasurer when she retired in August.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Robert, and daughter Robin, as well as three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at in East Hampton on Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Rev. William Hoffman of the will be there at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to The East End Hospice or The Friends of the Montauk Library.
