What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is not mind control — the only thing I can do as a hypnotist is to allow and permit individuals to do would like to be doing.

Hypnosis can best be defined as focused attention with heightened suggestibility. However, there are some prerequisites for people to be good candidates.

Three primary prerequisites are desire, belief, and expectation. Please note that there is a significant difference between clinical hypnosis and stage hypnosis. Nothing is 100% however most people can and will experience the benefits of hypnosis in a clinical setting with a competent practitioner. Charles Tebbetts, defined hypnosis, as written in MIRACLES ON DEMAND (which is, unfortunately, no longer in print): "There is no legal definition of hypnosis. Webster's dictionary describes it incorrectly as an artificially induced sleep, but it is actually a natural state of mind and induced normally in everyday living much more often than it is induced artificially. Every time we become engrossed in a novel or a motion picture, we are in a natural hypnotic trance (p. 211-212)."

Think for a moment of the concept that A means B. For example, "the fact that you are reading this means that you have an interest in hypnosis". The preceding statement reinforces or indicates that there is a desire. The probability of an individual experiencing hypnotic trance is also based on a belief that they can be hypnotized. Expectation is also a primary component – What do you expect to gain from hypnosis?

Hypnosis is not mind control – the only thing I can do as a hypnotist is to allow and permit individuals to do would like to be doing. During a session the individual is aware of their surroundings and at no time are they surrendering their will.

For those curious to experience hypnosis you may download an audio program at the following link http://thebeachhypnotist.com/about-us/ . Here you will find a complete audio program which you can download to your computer or device. It is recommended that when you listen to this program you are not engaged in any activity that require your conscious attention. Also this program is engineered for use with headphones/earbuds.

The current live seminar group hypnosis schedule is as follows: Tuesday, January 22 at Southampton Hospital at 6 PM I will be conducting a permanent weight loss solution program. On Tuesday, January 29 at Southampton Hospital I will be conducting the quit smoking without weight gain program. On February 12 I will be conducting both the permanent weight loss solution program and the quit smoking without weight gain program in East Hampton. Please feel free to call 631-288-4794 if you have any questions.

No, hypnosis is real. What you're talking about is more along the lines of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lRIQGU2RRk

I never said hypnosis wasn't real, Mr. Cheswick, and I am judging from your reply that you haven't looked very deeply into the topic. Also, referring to something as "BS" without explaining WHY you think it's "BS" is... well... BS! Ever heard of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)? I assure you IT is real, as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rw9EfNniQ0 http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Consciousness-Is-Manipulated-Obamas-NeuroLinguistic-4341184.S.123019144 And no, I am not a partisan attack dog, and I find most of Mr. Obama's opponents across the isle to be equally distasteful. Try to escape your own paradigms.
