Sag Harbor Fire Under Investigation After Life Lost

Find out what's happening around East Hampton on Tuesday.

Good morning, East Hampton.

— Investigators are still working to determine the cause of a fire that killed an elderly man in a house in Sag Harbor Hills on Monday afternoon. Our condolences to the man's family and friends. We are waiting to report his name when police decide to release it.

— We would like to extend a thank you to all the firefighters and EMS personnel who were hard at work yesterday. Sag Harbor firefighters quickly knocked down the fire in the village, and we know it is difficult on all first responders when there is loss of life. East Hampton firefighters also responded the Sag Harbor fire, and were later called out to a carbon monoxide poisoning that sent at least two people to the hospital on Monday evening. Thank you to all the volunteers who serve out community.

— Republicans in East Hampton can't seem to pin down a supervisor candidate. On Monday, Larry Cantwell officially filed a certificate of declination for the Republican nomination with the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

— Carl Irace, a Republican and Independence party candidate for town justice, posted a blog on Patch that talks about Kathy Tucker, who was honored at the Eastville Historical Society, and how he is inspired by all of her good work.
