Looking Forward: Trustee Talks New Bill; Naked Stage Returns to Guild Hall

Your guide to what's happening in the community.

Thursday is here, and I can practically taste the weekend. Since we're looking ahead, here are some items to look forward to.

— This afternoon, the family movie at the Amagansett Library is "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted." Show time is 3:30 p.m. Snacks are provided, and there's no charge.

— The 12th season of the Naked Stage season at Guild Hall opens Sept 24 with "Where We Are" by Kristen Lowman, featuring Sam Underwood, Georgia Warner, Nick Fondulis, Claire Karpen, Jason Scott Quinn, and Rosie Macquire.

—  Also, auditions will be held for Terrence McNally's "Frankie & Johnny at the Clair de Lune" on Aug. 18 at The Bridge at 2357 Montauk Highway, from 2 to 6 p.m. An actress is needed for the role of Frankie, a woman in her late 30s or early 40s. The show will be held between Oct. 10 and 27.

— Coming up this weekend is Kids Summertime Fun Day, a fundraiser for Contractors for Kids, at the Montauk Yacht Club. On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be plenty for kids to do. From volleyball to a scavenger hunt, a hula hoop contest to the "messiest face contest," there's sure to be something for everyone. Admission is $10. Rain date: Sunday.

— Lastly, Deborah Klughers, an East Hampton Town Trustee, blogged on Patch recently about a new bill introduced in the legislature to restrict methoprene in estuaries. "Do we lean toward the 'health' of the chemical companies or the health of the people & planet?," she asks. Weigh-in.
