Mr. Miller, really? "most preposterous, stupid, story I have ever seen on Patch" or is thisRead More this a case of someone putting on blinders saying the, "the deplorable condition of the Morpurgo house," is OK with me. Everyone who walks up those Library steps will look at the neglect, inaction, and DISGRACE of aiming so many resources, fundraisers, and speeches to rehabilitate one edifice while ignoring a building that may collapse any moment next door injuring anyone perhaps walking to or leaving the Library. Ignoring Morpurgo is the "most preposterous, stupid "thing the library planners did.
Stephen M. Miller Jr. April 19, 2014 at 11:23 am
The John Jermain Library does not own the deplorable, unsightly, dangerous,Morpurgo property and isRead More not responsible for it's upkeep or safety.Perhaps the Sag Harbor Code Enforcement Officer should get involved and try to solve the problem? I am still confused as to why you feel the Library should use it's resources to rehabilitate a building it does not own. Why don't you start a foundation, raise the money necessary to purchase the property, and donate it to the library. As I stated previously a stupid, preposterous story..

Mr. Miller, you are most likely a fine man, and you have now finally arrived at the heart of theRead More issue. When you say do I feel the "Library should use it's resources to rehabilitate a building," of course you know those resources were the community's resources, collected by "very good people" for the good purpose of preserving the quality of the Library for future generations…..The disgrace is the sight walking up the stairs. The Library planners by narrowing the scope to ignore the Morpurgo situation diminished their successful effort. Not my problem, not a library problem, ignores the truth, something should have been done and with all the money that was used and raised "by the community." Something could have been done, but instead the focus was narrowed to just the library and not what is decaying right there along side the newly spent millions. It was/is necessary to purchase the building, but someone decided to ignore that fact. That is the DISGRACE. I only wrote this when I stood there in front of the library to see the magnificent job and saw what EVERYONE will see.

So true Hamster, aren't you having the same trouble with the tainted genes in your family tree rightRead More now? Hope that gets worked out, but you really need to start looking outside the family! Praying for you still, happy Easter!

Gene pools are tainted from any animal on earth, especially humans. Why is the pit singled out?Read More Humans kill at a far more alarming rate than Pits. Other dogs kill too, pits make headlines. Many dogs are also mistaken for pits. I read an article of a pit killing someone but 3 days later it came out that it was a Doberman. 99 % of the pits out there are perfectly friendly. Pit haters are uneducated in the facts.
Boss Hogg April 19, 2014 at 03:37 pm
Gus, I think we are all just uneducated, period.

JD You're 100% correct about the person walking the street. It's the owner of the dogsRead More responsibility. The mass breeding of the Pit Bull has also contributed to the problem. A big contributor to this Pit Bull mania was Sports Illustrated. In 1987 they put a pit baring its teeth on the cover with the headline "Beware of this dog". This attracted a lot of types of people that wanted them. Gang members sought the breed in droves. Back yard breeders began over breeding because the demand was so high. Many of these dogs were abused, abandoned and became sought after for the ring. To make them meaner they would pump them with steroids, beat them, chain them with heavy chains around their necks all day to make them stronger and force them with hours of exercise daily. It is human scum that have made Pit Bulls the problem. The monsters are humans not these wonderful animals. Joe R why don't you add the most savage of those animals to your list, humans.

The Pit Bull story repeats in a 1/2 hour at midnight tonight on Nat Geo Wild with Cesar Millan.
