Bay Street Theatre to Decide on Move Within 60 Days: Bay Street Theatre directors and board members ran down a list of about 10 options for the Sag Harbor theater's new location but came to the current Parrish Art Museum space on Jobs Lane in Southampton Village as the most desirable option, financially.

Java Nation at a Crossroad: Tucked away in a corner yet somehow poised almost in the heart of Sag Harbor is Java Nation. It seemed like just another day at Java Nation, the unofficial counterculture’s coffee shop of choice, but it wasn’t — it was one of the last days.

Havens Beach Clean-Up Approved, Finally: Fifteen years and many meetings later, the clean-up work at Havens Beach in Sag Harbor is ready to move forward. According to The East Hampton Star, the remediation work to improve the water quality and safety at the village's only bathing beach was approved this week. The Sag Harbor Village Board and the Village Harbor Committee gave a nod to the plan formulated by Inter-Science Associates.

Drug-Sniffing Dogs May Roam Pierson Halls: Drug-sniffing police dogs are already used in high schools further west on Long Island, but Sag Harbor may be the first school district to bring them to the South Fork, 27east reports.

Former CBS Newsman Dies in Crash: Richard Threlkeld, a 74-year-old television news correspondent who worked for CBS News for 25 years, was killed Friday when the Mini Cooper he was driving collided with a propane truck in Amagansett. Schneiderman Sworn In to Fifth Term: Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman, I-Montauk, whose district covers the South Fork, was sworn in at the William H. Rogers Building in Hauppauge to his fifth two-year term last week.

New Scouting Group Hits East End: Rachel Stephens, of Hampton Bays, was looking for something fun to get her 8-year-old to get involved in. She tried Boy Scouts, but she said it just wasn't right for her son. She continued her search and came upon a new group called Earth Charter US.

Green Groups, Farming Community at Odds Over Pesticide Ban: Citing "alarming" data in a study being worked on by the State Department of Environmental Conservation, more than 20 environmental groups on Wednesday called for an outright ban of three particular pesticides in an effort to protect drinking water aquifers.
