East Hampton's Republican elected officials and representatives of the town's Republican, Conservative and Tea Party committees, officially endorsed Randy B. Altschuler in his race for the first Congressional District on Friday at the village's Hook Mill.

Supervisor Bill Wilkinson, Republican council members Theresa Quigley and Dominick Stanzione, were on hand to support Altschuler, of St. James, in his second bid to take the seat from Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton.

George Demos is also running in the 2012 race.

East Hampton Town Conservative Party chairman Vincent Downing, East End Tea Party chairwoman Lynda Edwards and newly appointed town Republican committee chairman Kurt Kappel joined them in kicking off the campaign season.

The only reason why socialist Tim Bishop won is because he's bought and paid for by unions and civil rights leaders. This is why he only won by a few paltry votes. The law abiding Long Island taxpayers are sick of socialists like Tim Bishop that want to steal from your paycheck and give it to those that abuse.

Ask yourself this, is Long Island doing any better with Tim Bishop? If so then why are you paying some of the highest taxes in the country? 5 billion a year in medicaid expenses. The highest in the country. But hey, we're a socialist state. A blue state. A sanctuary state. All these equal insolvency. Don't believe me? Ask the European Union how their socialist plan is going. Must be doing well if they keep needing billion dollar bailouts from our own Federal Reserve......

New York isn't too far behind. The problem with socialist Tim Bishop is eventually he'll run out of other people's money and will no longer be able to distribute the wealth of those that actually work for a living.

It's time to bring in a person with fresh ideas. Someone who actually knows how to bring in business which Long Island so desperately needs. Not some socialist that the only way he can keep jobs, not create them, is by abusing bailouts and by putting our children in debt before they're even employed. It's time for a change of the guard and this person is Randy Altschuler.

How corrupt is Tim Bishop? His district received $693 million in stimulus funds which resulted in 428 jobs, which works out to $1,627,113 per job. Who got the bulk of the funding? The school districts, to protect teachers’ union jobs so they can come out and thank Congressman Bishop by voting him back into office. Not to mention being a big supporter of Occupy Wall St.

Do Repubs really think it doesn't matter, like this robot robkoz & campy Carol polo Campolo?

It's wrong to say it's a "small crowd," or any "crowd" at all. Throw out that it's his campaign staff. It's not that. It's just, you know, if you can fit everyone in the picture into a pick-up truck, it's not a "crowd." I've seen bigger crowds assemble in India when you start giving out money to starving street urchins.

But Altschuler would know all about that -- except, you know, for the giving money away to hungry kids part.

Unemployment still at all time highs, deficit trillions higher than when Bush left office, value of our homes falling everyday, gasoline prices headed for the sky, thousands of jobs lost in Suffolk, Bank of Smithtown gone, the college gone, Arrow Electronics gone, all under Bishop and Obama. Altschuler's international company actually created jobs in the USA. After Altschuler founded his business there was a net increase in American jobs. I hope Altschuler runs hundreds of TV ads with the hundreds of Americans who have jobs created by Randy. I also hope he runs hundreds of ads that interview FORMER college employees, FORMER Smithown Bank employees, FORMER Arrow Electronic employees about what a great job Bishop did for them.

Tim Bishop is a disaster. He is a disaster because he has supported in lock-step the job killing, inflation busting policies of Obama. He voted for the multiple stimulus packages that have resulted in obscene giveaways of taxpayer money to well entrenched special interests and unions. Obamacare and Dodd/Frank the two biggest job killing pieces of legislation that Bishop supported, are directly responsible for the deplorable economic conditions ravishing the East End. When you start paying $5 and $6 per gallon for gas in a few weeks remember it is the Obama-Bishop policies of shutting down development of our country's own energy resources so their scandal ridden "green" energy (remember Solyndra?) political buddies can gobble up even more precious taxpayer dollars with untested and fake projects. Tim Bishop cannot even muster enough courage to tell Obama that Long Islanders will not tolerate government intrusion into their churches and religious life. Remember this on Election Day, my fellow MHT parishoners.

Randy Altschuler has created more jobs in the last two years, with his environmentally responsible company (CloudBlue) that recycles computer waste than Tim Bishop created in the last 10 years. One of the most intelligent guys ever to run for Congress, Randy Altschuler believes in smaller, less intrusive government, less regulations, and lower taxes, all proven economic simulating policies.

A proven job creator, smart as they come, up from the bootstraps success, Mr. Altschuler is so superior to Mr. Bishop, that comparison of the two is just laughable. When the dems held a majority in the House, what major thing did Bishop do? Is there an Act or Bill that he authored? Yeah, he might have jumped on someone else's legislation, but how has he distinguished himself? Now in the minority, what does he do except collect his paycheck.

These are very tough times for our beloved country and our precious people on the East End. We cannot afford and must not accept status quo mediocrity in our government. And Bishop is the very definition of that.

Hi Tom. Thank you for the idea of going to Tim Bishop's own site to see his accomplishments. I did. And Bishop's site, under Legislation, has a direct link to the Library of Congress Bill Summary and Status Search Results. What a hoot. Mr. Bishop is even more inconsequential as a legislator than even I would have imagined. I urge all voters to go to that site and see just how pathetic his tenure has been. Bishop introduces legislation all right. But, most of his legislation either has zero co-sponsors or a de minumis number. This is such an embarrassment, that I am surprised he even has the link on his website.

Not spewing any taking points here. Everyone needs to go and look for themselves. But, I gotta tell you Tom, I hope Bishop's lackluster performance DOES become a talking point. It should. This is just the kind of information voters should have to be fully informed regarding the people they are voting for.

Tough times, call for tough, smart, capable people at the helm. Randy Altschuler more than fits that bill. We cannot afford another two years of a mediocre at best congressman "representing" the East End.

Why must we move away, due to the sky high cost of living, because so many people continue to vote for expensive add-on's that equate to higher taxes? Why isn't Tim Bishop bringing in the job opportunities we desperately need out here. Why are our gas prices so much higher than elsewhere in the US? Lady L, your property taxes are high because one of his biggest supporters is the teachers union. Look at the link I provided above. Just because he's a congressman that doesn't mean he has nothing to do with the increase in school taxes. His donors are a dead giveaway to what side his bread is buttered on. The gas tax is another issue. But hey, got to pay for all those entitlement programs right?

If Tim Bishop really cared about his district why isn't he making the elderly school tax exempt? Why do the elderly have to choose between eating or paying their mortgage? Why because the greedy teachers union wants that money and Tim Bishop, instead of doing the right thing and keeping the elderly in their homes, would rather sell them out to stay in office.

The reality is Lady L is we live in a pro socialist state. The liberals are in serious denial but with a Medicaid bill of 50+ billion.......

facebook.com/rep Bishop... Carol, the official site does not tell the daily meetings the representative attends or the legislative work he does both at home and in the well.

Look at the comments above and the talking points and names he is called. All of these come directly from the Republicans in Washington and the wall of TV and radio the Republican supporters hear day in and day out.

Lady L points out her property taxes are high. That has nothing to do with Congress. The cost of living has been on the rise since 2000 and congress has had very little to do about it.

You on the right say that government doesn't make jobs business does. This is and always has been a seasonal community. They hire in the spring and summer. Most locals have learned to salt away their income in those months and live on the balance through the winter months.

And last...The downward spiral of the East End. I really don't think there has been any more of a downward here than any other aseasonal second home community in the USA. You want to see a downward spiral go to Florida, Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. All Republican strongholds and all in a desperate drive to solve the crisis caused by the tragedies of the war, the bank crisis, and the idea posited by the Bish administration that they can run the business of government off the books.

I feel tired now so I'll close now.

Ohio, Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania all have Republican governors NOW because they replaced Democrats over the last two years. Of those replaced one is an Obama cabinet member, another was on his transition team and yet another was the former Chairman of the Democrat National Committee. No wonder they were replaced with Republicans -- some people in those states finally wised up and realized Obama -- and Obama blind followers (like Bishop) are very replaceable and are not the answer to the many problems created over the last 3+ years. So you actually may be correct - four of the five states you name have recently replaced their Obama loving Democrat governors with Republicans who ran against Obama's record. That's exactly what is going to happen to Tim Bishop come November.

But, I have lived through many recessions and many different administrations. And in my lifetime, 60 years by the way, I never, ever remember an administration as dangerous and incompetent as this one. And Tom, if you think that because Bishop goes to lots of meetings that makes him a good legislator, then you can vote for him with a clear conscience. But, going to lots of meetings and having nothing to show for it, is a pretty poor excuse for a Congressman of 10 years. Did you visit the site I recommended? If so, then the only thing you can credit him with are meetings. Bully for him. But where's the beef? Where are the laws that he authored to make the East End of Long Island a better place to live. There are none, zip, nada, nothing. And now, AND NOW, he aligns himself against the constitutional cause of religious freedom. The guy has got to go. Every person even remotely concerned about their constitutional freedoms should be in front of Bishop's office protesting this new insanity of the Democrats and this administration.
