Three Events Celebrate Black History Month at Guild Hall
Catch a gospel show, take the kids to see some magic and sing-a-long to doo-wop this weekend.
A celebration of Black History Month will kick off this weekend in East Hampton with events for children and adults at Guild Hall.
Presented by Hamptons Venues, "Magic Madness," a clown and magic show for children, will start the festivities off on Saturday. There will be two shows at noon and 2 p.m. Tickets are $12.
On Saturday night, classic soul meets doo-wop with slate of "soul superstars," like Ray, Goodman and Brown and a-cappella group The Persuasions. There are also two opportunities to catch their show at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $42 each.
Finally, on Sunday, gospel will be celebrated with a line-up of traditional and modern gospel performers, including gospel all-star Bryan Wilson. Groove Gumbo Trio, featuring Claes Brondal, a local band, and the newly-formed Hamptons Gospel Sextet, comprised of singers from North and South Fork churches. It was formed from the Hamptons Gospel Choir, which had performed at Bay Street Theatre several years ago. The performance is set for 1 p.m. and tickets are $25.
