Springs Fire Department Extinguishes Garage Fire

Volunteers quickly knock down fire on Sunday afternoon.

The  battled a garage fire on the corner of Gardiner Avenue and 13th Street in Springs on Sunday afternoon.

First Assistant Ben Miller said a fire broke out in a metal garage at 140 Gardiner Avenue. The department was dispatched at 3:36 p.m., he said. 

He said the garage was unoccupied at the time and nobody was hurt.

"It was mainly smoke -- not a lot heat of, not a lot of fire," Miller said.

The department responded with one engine, one tanker, one rescue truck,  and one ambulance. A total of 45 personnel were on scene, Miller said. The stood by with one engine. mutual aid engine from EH standing by

Volunteers firefighters were on scene for about an hour and went back in service just after 4:30 p.m.
