Record Turnout To Run Hamptons Marathon Races

Over 2,600 take part in fifth annual race in Springs.

A total of 2,609 runners took part in the fifth annual Hamptons Marathon races in Springs on Saturday.

According to the results, 328 runners took part in the 26.2 miles, which started from the Springs School.

Shaun Maguire, 25, of Washington, D.C. won the marathon in 2:44:45.

He was followed by Christopher Koegel, 28, of Malverne, in 2:52:19. Mason Albaugh, 20, of Kings Point, NY, finished third in 3:07:16.

The first female finisher was fourth place finisher Mary Beth Ryan, 28, of Holden, MA, who finished in 3:08:36.

In the half-marathon, 1,275 ran, according to the results.

Steven Mitchell, 31, of New York City, NY, finished first in 1:25:30.

Coming in second was Jason Hancock, 37, of Southampton, who ran the half-marathon in 1:26:16. Jorge Lopes, 48, of Linden, NJ, finished third in 1:27:36.

Veronica Jackson, 24, of New York City, was the first female finisher of the half-marathon and fourth overall finisher.

In the 5K, there were 1,006 runners. Erik Engstrom, 13, of Amagansett, was the winner. He finished the 3.1 mile "fun run" in 19:20.

Delcan Sherman, 36, of New York City, finished second in 20:08 and Gavin Solotar, 47, of New York City finished in 20:22.

Placing fourteenth overall, Mollie Duggal, 34, of Southampton, was the first female finisher.
