Families also remember Katy Stewart, who died in December.
Over 1,200 turned out for the Max Cure Foundation carnival on Saturday to raise money for pediatric cancer causes and remember the late Katy Stewart.
"Roar for a Cure," held at East Hampton Indoor Tennis in Wainscott, had been held in support of Katy, who had hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer. She died on Dec. 30, 2010 at the age of 12.
The Max Cure Fund For Pediatric Cancer Research, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where Katy was treated, was established in 2007 by the Plotkin family in honor of their young son. Maxwell Grant Plotkin was diagnosed with a rare form of B-Cell Lymphoma. The fund supports pediatric cancer research, improving treatments and finding cures that will save children’s lives.
The fun-filled event offered healthy and gourmet foods, entertainers, athletics including a rock wall, games, music and a tent filled with face painting, airbrushed tattoos and hair stylists and much more for the pleasure of the young attendees.
High-end silent auction items including vacations, concert tickets, designer accessories, sports memorabilia and framed photographs from Jerry Garcia in concert added to the monies raised at the event.
