PHOTOS: Firefighters Douse Plane Wreckage in Crash Aftermath

On Sunday, the East Hampton Fire Department responded quickly extinguished flames.

When near just after take off on Sunday, volunteers rushed to Wainscott. 

The single-engine, low-wing Mooney aircraft had erupted into a ball flames, with thick black smoke billowing high above the tree tops. The pilot Stephen Bochter and his lone passenger, Kim Brillo, were away from the crash site before the fire grew worse by Craig Schum, who was on his way home from work, Sound Aircraft Services employees 17-year-old Jack Gleeson and manager Michael Norbeck, as well as area pilot Dean Foster. 

Meanwhile, firefighters pushed down a deer fence with the front-end of their brush truck in order to get to the wreckage, about 100 yards from Daniel's Hole Road. Chief Thomas Bono told East Hampton Patch on Friday that "practicially every truck" in the department's fleet was brought to the scene.

Firefighters from Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor fire departments brought their tanker and brush trucks, as well. The administered emergency medical services at the scene.  The couple, who had been flying back to Tounton, Mass., were flown by Medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital.

They are both said to be in good condition.
