Mary's Marvelous Celebrating 10th Birthday With New Location

Amagansett pastry and sandwich shop plans on stepping into the former Bucket's location in East Hampton Village in July, 10 years after it first opened up shop.

It's shaping up to be a very happy 10th birthday for the Amagansett sandwich and pastry shop owned by Mary Schoenlein.

This July - 10 years after the store opened on Main Street in Amagansett - Mary's Marvelous is hoping to be all moved into a second location in East Hampton Village, in the space that formerly housed Bucket's Deli on Newtown Lane.

Bucket's was run by Everett and Angela Griffiths for 33 years Juliana Nash, a manager at Mary's Marvelous, said that while she knows Mary's Marvelous will be setting up shop in a space long visited by locals, the gourmet breakfast, sandwich and pastry shop plans on keeping up a tradition of quality food for its customers.

"I know they were well-known for their egg sandwiches," Nash said. "We have a killer egg sandwich too, so anyone who still wants one is still going to get them."

Along with the expansion of Mary's Marvelous to East Hampton, Nash said that the store will be operating a "dry," gift store space next door in the space of the Halsey McKay gallery where they plan to sell cookies, granola, gift boxes, high end coffee, and more. In addition, Mary's will be expanding its online offerings as well.

Nash said that Schoenlein had been looking to expand her business for a couple of years, though not necessarily in East Hampton.

"But when this space came up, it looked like a good opportunity," she said.

No seating is permitted in the former Bucket's location - just allowing take-out and a standing bar - which will have an "entirely new interior" by the time it opens in July.
