Photos: Preview LongHouse's 30th Season

LongHouse Reserve opens for the season on Saturday.

This weekend, will open their doors for their 30th year and their annual celebration, "The Rites of Spring." If you haven’t been before you are in for a real treat. There are 16 acres of gardens, sculpture, architecture and furniture that are more splendid than ever. Our mild winter has enhanced this already amazing local treasure. Everything is bursting, color and textures abound.

If you are returning to LongHouse Reserve you will notice many new improvements. There is a new entrance and parking has been expanded. Sculptures have been moved into different environments granting fresh ways to view them and there are many new acquisitions.  A great many new plantings and paths have been added, expanding areas of the garden and there is another year of maturity to the trees and shrubs that only the grace of age, and skillful care can accomplish.

So come and help celebrate spring amid banks of flowering bulbs, vibrant azaleas, reds of new Japanese maple leaves, hot pink cherry blossoms, new sculptures, paths and ponds and so much more. See the garden as one of founder Jack Lenor Larsen’s weavings, meditate, listen to bird song, meander aimlessly, photograph, drawing, takes notes for your own garden, meet friends or maybe make some new ones.
