Swim or Dine in Support of Montauk's Thirst for Community Pool

Three events coming up this week to benefit the Montauk Playhouse Community Center.

Want a pool at the ? There's a bunch of ways to support the foundation coming up this week to help that dream a reality.

The fourth annual is set for Saturday and the annual "Diamond in the Rough" gala will be held on Aug. 4.

Organized by the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad, swimmers can sign-up for three distance categories leaving plenty of room for all ages and abilities to take part. There's a quick half-mile swim for beginners at the cliffs of , a one-mile swim for more experienced swimmers at and a two-mile swim for strong swimmers, which kicks the event off at at 7:30 a.m.

All of the races end near the parking lot at Ditch Plains. Registration, online or in person, is $25 for young swimmers and $35 for adults. Everyone will get a swim cap, t-shirt and post-race breakfast.

One week later, the annual gala bash returns. The $250 ticket includes dinner, dancing, drinks, a live auction, raffle and live music, with proceeds going toward the community center's foundation, which also support the communal spaces and theater arts projects at the Playhouse.

Actors Jerry O'Connell and Aida Turturro, both who have strong ties to Montauk, are the evening's honorary co-chairs, while Jerry's brother Charlie O'Connell, of "The Bachelor" fame, serves as the evening's MC.

The evening will also serve to honor Montauk residents Cindi and Dave Ceva, Marlena and Sam Gershowitz and Joan and Ron Hildreth.

Tickets are available online, by phone or at gift store in Montauk.

Also coming up this week is the second installment of at the Playhouse. The theatrical production of "" will be performed on stage on July 26 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.
