Delays Possible During Railroad Crossing Work

East Hampton Village police details detours.

Starting Tuesday, drivers should expect delays on certain roads in East Hampton Village as work is being done on railroad crossings.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will detour traffic around crossings and bridges, according to East Hampton Village police.

Traffic will be diverted on Newtown Lane to avoid the railroad crossing at Newtown Lane and Sherrill Road on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Northwest bound traffic will be diverted onto Railroad Avenue, near and redirected onto Race Lane back to Newtown Lane, police said. Southeast bound traffic will be diverted onto Race Lane at the traffic light and redirected to Railroad Avenue back to Newtown Lane.

From Tuesday through Thursday, traffic on Accabonac Road will be diverted to avoid the Accabonac Railroad Bridge underpass. Southbound traffic will be sent onto Collins Avenue and redirected onto North Main Street. Northbound traffic will be sent to Hook Mill Road and redirected onto North Main Street.

Police also announced that on Oct. 25, 26, and 27, North Main Street traffic will be diverted as work is done on the North Main Bridge underpass. Hook Mill Road and Collins Avenue will be used.
