UPDATE: Taxi Strikes, Kills Teen Walking in Amagansett

Jeffrey Ahn, 17, was pronounced dead at Southampton Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Update: said Jeffrey Ahn, 17, of New York City and Amagansett, was killed after a minivan struck him on Old Stone Highway in Amagansett on Saturday afternoon.

Ahn had been walking north with a group of friends at the time of the crash, at about 1 p.m. 

Ladislav Smigura, 25, was driving a 2004 Ford van north when ran into the pedestrians, police said, near Ahn's home on Arbor Path.

Emergency room personnel pronounced Ahn dead at . emergency medical technicians tried to resuscitate Ahn on the way to the hospital.

Police said the van has been impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said no charges have been filed.

Previously: A minivan taxi struck three teenagers walking on Old Stone Highway in Amagansett on Saturday afternoon, seriously injuring a 17-year-old boy, according to East Hampton Town Police Chief Ed Ecker.

The accident happened at about 1 p.m., on Old Stone Highway, near Arbor Path, not far from the intersection of Old Stone Highway and Town Lane.

"A Lindy's cab hit, I believe, three pedestrians," Ecker said. Detectives are investigating the cause of the crash, he said.

The Amagansett Fire Department's ambulance company was called at 12:55 p.m. They transported one of the teens to Southampton Hospital.

Ecker did not release the teens' names or the name of the cab driver, yet.
