Cops: Scoville Hall Fire Appears Electrical

Preliminary investigation does not point to arson.

The origin of the on Saturday morning may have been electrical, according to police.

Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said the investigation has not pointed to arson, though the Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad was brought in to help police and town fire marshals investigate.

"Preliminarily, we believe it may be electrical in nature," he said. The exact cause has not been determined.

The was called to the area of Meeting House Lane and Main Street on Saturday at 3:30 a.m. When chiefs arrived they found Scoville Hall in flames.
