Car Crashes Into Town Pond

A car crashed into in East Hampton Village on Monday evening at about 10:10 p.m.

According to witnesses at the scene, the car was halfway submerged in the pond just as Montauk Highway turns left and continues as Main Street.

The driver, a man, reportedly received only minor injuries, but was transported by to Southampton Hospital at about 10:35 p.m.

also responded to the accident and are investigating the cause. They were not immediately available for comment.

Over the years, there have been occasional accidents involving the pond.
